CEBU CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) recognized Best Parent Leaders (PL) under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) with the awarding of the 67 outstanding Parent Leaders nationwide, five of them are from the Central Visayas region namely, Crespina Lapad from Batuan, Bohol; Jesselito Tumimbang Sr. from Basay, Negros Oriental; Miralyn Basallo from Daanbantayan, Cebu; Louzel Grengia from Moalboal, Cebu and Remily Daniel from Siquijor, Siquijor.
The awarding was done during the culminating activity of the second anniversary of the institutionalization of the 4Ps in a weeklong anniversary celebration that started on June 7 with the theme “SaMa Sama tungo Sa Matatag at Sa Matagumpay ng Pamilyang Pilipino” which focused on how the 4Ps has made significant impacts to improve the lives and empower its beneficiaries.
The awardees joined the virtual awarding ceremony which was livestreamed through the official Facebook fan page of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
According to DSWD-7 regional information
officer Leah Quintana that the search for outstanding Parent Leaders aimed to
identify and recognize outstanding 4Ps PL and their exemplary performance and
achievement in supporting the program implementation and promoting volunteerism
as a way of life.The outstanding Parent Leaders must have served
the program since 2019 to date and have continuously demonstrated extraordinary
traits, leadership qualities, service and assistance to the program.
Quintana bared that aside from the Parent Leaders, Innovative Project under 4Ps were also recognized based on the prescribed criteria like innovation, participation, sustainability, efficiency, and reproducibility.
The Bagayanon Bigasan and General Merchandise from Daanbantayan, Cebu was the DSWD Office VII’s entry to the 4Ps Most Innovative Project while notable DSWD-7 employees and development partners were also recognized for their significant contributions towards the successful implementation of the program, Quintana shared.
DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala congratulated the awardees and lauded their hard work, tenacity, and great contribution to the program.
