DSWD-7 releases P2.5M for KALAHI cash-for-work payouts for 3 Cebu town

CEBU CITY – The Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD-7) Regional Field Office VII released P2.5M for payouts to the 974 beneficiaries of the Cash-For-Work program of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB) for the towns of Medellin, Daanbantayan, and Samboan, Cebu on May 19, 20, and 25, respectively.

DSWD-7 regional director Rebecca Geamala said that the KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB program is offered to people who are hired to work for five to 10 days by cleaning the streets, shorelines and by disinfecting public areas in their communities.

 Beneficiaries also engaged in backyard gardening, which they considered important, during the pandemic, Geamala added.

According to Bernarda Pino of Barangay Curva, Medellin town that she was very grateful to this program because it gave her the opportunity to improve her vegetable farming and that planting on her own yard has provided them with their daily food even after the program.

Other municipalities in Cebu province, namely Barili, Tabogon, and Talisay City are expected to have their payouts as soon as paperwork and documentation processes are finalized.

Meanwhile, some P350,000 grant was released on May 26 for the municipality of Guindulman, Bohol for its 96 KALAHI cash for work beneficiaries and P650,000 for the 513 beneficiaries in Garcia and Sierra Bullones in Bohol for the first week of June 2021. (Photos: Google Images)
