CCCI: Sustained collaboration to secure Cebu as a global economic hub

CEBU CITY— The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) called on businesses, institutions, and stakeholders for a sustained collaboration and collective efforts to secure Cebu’s position in the global economic arena.

CCCI President Jay Yuvallos, in his message during the Chamber’s  general membership meeting and launching of “Cebu Business Months (CBM) 2025” on May 30 urged its members to continue to chart bold initiatives, commitment and unity of purpose to drive meaningful change in the economic landscape of Cebu.

“We cannot do this alone. We need each one of you in this advocacy. Together, we can build a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive Cebu,” Yuvallos said.

At the heart of Yuvallos’s message was a renewed emphasis on collaboration as a catalyst for economic and social transformation. Through high-level engagements with international diplomats, trade missions to Japan, partnerships with educational institutions, and grassroots capacity-building programs, the Chamber has created multiple entry points for businesses to plug into broader development efforts.

Yuvallos shared that recent initiatives—such as the dual education training program for the future workforce, as well as the packaging, labeling workshops for fisherfolk, and digitalization training for microentrepreneurs, underscore the Chamber’s belief that growth must be inclusive and shared.

“Power is non-negotiable. Reliable utilities are the lifeblood of a thriving business environment,” Yuvallos asserted.

Yuvallos added that CCCI is working with local and international experts to help Cebu transition toward zero plastic waste and greater sustainability across industries. Through collaborative planning, the Chamber also seeks to transform Cebu into a premier logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific.

“Let us not be content with business as usual. Let us come together—private sector, government, academe, civil society to make Cebu a model of innovation, resilience, and shared prosperity,” he said. (Photos: CCCI/Robby Alugar)
