LTO-7 recommends revocation of license against 'hit and run' driver

CEBU CITY --Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) recommend the revocation of the driver's license against Dario Lebito, the driver of the vehicle that hit the 13-year-old high school student in Lapu-Lapu City that was captured on CCTV and uploaded on social media showing the student crossing the street using the pedestrian lane where he was hit by the vehicle on November 14.

"I am inclined to recommend the revocation of his driver's license based on the traffic records of the driver," LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec described Lebito as a reckless driver.

This is after Caindec discovered that the driver has existing eight apprehensions under his name on the LTO system. Lebito received a subpoena from LTO-7 on November 16.  LTO-7 has yet to receive an explanation from the driver where he was given 72 hours from the receipt of the subpoena.

Caindec also revealed that Lebito got his driver's license in Luzon but he is a native of Bohol and based on reports, he currently resides in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.  Caindec is looking at any administrative liabilities that the owner may face following the said incident.

Under section 27 of the Republic Act 4136, only the LTO chief has the exclusive power and authority to suspend or revoke any driver's license. (Photos: LTO7/FB)
