VISCOM personnel, 3ID end local absentee voting today

CEBU CITY – Visayas Command (VISCOM) and members of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Philippine Army officially started the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) to its personnel on April 27 and today, April 29 at their respective headquarters.

At least 44 military personnel of VISCOM, comprising of 14 Officers and 30 Enlisted Personnel and 1,186 from 3ID personnel across Western and Central Visayas signified to the Commission of Election to participate a three-day LAV.

Lt/Gen Robert Dauz, VISCOM Commander said, “The only time that we can actually participate in the electoral process is the time when we cast our votes since we adhere to our commitment as an apolitical organization. Thus, we firmly encouraged our personnel who are qualified to be absentee voters to cast their votes and exercise their constitutional rights.”

Dauz urged the people to vote and they must not be intimidated by the negative elements in their community, particularly the communist terrorists who have been sowing terror to topple the government and destroy the Filipinos’ democratic way of life.

Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva, Provincial Election Supervisor of the Province of Capiz said that local absentee voting is an opportunity given to all government workers, especially to soldiers whose primary tasked is to secure a peaceful and safe election this coming May 9, 2022.

Major General Benedict Arevalo, Commander 3ID, PA encouraged all soldiers who registered for LAV must participate in the three-day local absentee voting for them to exercise their rights to suffrage.

Those considered as local absentee voters per Rules and Regulations on Local Absentee Voting cited in COMELEC Resolution No. 10725 are government officials and employees; members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP); members of the media, media practitioners to include their technical and support staff who cannot cast their votes during the official polling schedule as they are required to render election day duties.
