Blog #2: DSWD7 honors organizations, individuals for success stories in transcending poverty

KC-NCDDP empowerment champions recognized

CEBU CITY-- Volunteers and partner local government units of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) were also honored for exemplary volunteer work and partnership in the implementation of Community-Driven Development.

KALAHI-CIDSS, a poverty-alleviation and community empowerment program of DSWD has promoted accountability, transparency, and empowerment of communities to address various dimensions of poverty.

The Salamat Po Awards for Outstanding Volunteer for KALAHI-CIDSS was conferred to Vilma Mainit, BDC-TWG Head of Angilan, Aloguinsan, Cebu for showing her commitment as volunteer for seven years in the program instilling the program’s principle towards community development building.

Under the same category, the Best Volunteer Group went to Nug-as Active Worker’s Association (NAWA) of Nug-as, Alcoy, Cebu for empowering women to create opportunities after the implementation of the program in their community.

The recipient of Gawad sa Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) Award for Model Local Government Unit (LGU) implementing the KALAHI-CIDSS went to the Municipality of Sibulan, Negros Oriental for its active promotion of the Additional Financing and for showing responsive approach to foster the participation of local officials in response to the needs of the agency’s implementation of projects.
