GTNA, a school in Liloan, Cebu expands its facility to recreational, events now open to public

LILOAN, Cebu-- The GT Northeast Academy at Gemilina St. Tayud in Liloan, Cebu has expanded its facility into recreational and events center to maximize its learning and training grounds for its students to learn holistically.


Jonathan Salvane, GTNA School Director bared that the expansion and the school is intended to support the learning process of its students, combining academics and practical learnings and life skills. More on execution, less written and less exams. "We want them to learn and understand life at an early age," he added.

Salvane said that GTNA's goal is to be known as the B.E.S.T school or a school that excels in Business, Entrepreneurship, Science and Technology.  "We want our students to be business oriented, skills now are given important such as financial skills, life skills. With the new facility, the students will be able to handle business, hands-on learning and the swimming pools establish a classy atmosphere to the school," he said.

He added that GTNA-REC has three pools, the jacuzzi for the pre-school to introduce them to water first; the lagoon pool is where the beginners swimming classes are held and the semi-Olympic size pool is for the advance classes.


Swimming is a life skill and lifesaving, Salvane said and the school aims to cater to swimming competitions and these facilities are also open to the public.  He hopes that an Olympic swimming champion in the Philippines will come from GTNA-REC.

According to its president, Engr. Leonora Salvane, GTNA-Recreational and Events Center sits in 4,233-sqm property in Liloan town with 10 hotel rooms, three swimming pools, function rooms to accommodate 120 persons, a Mangga Restaurant, a mini bar and more, costing them more than P60 million as its investment.



All the facilities are intended foremost for its students to apply what they learned in an actual business setting.  The hotel room give the students a glimpse of the actual operations in the hospitality industry. “Our main purpose is for our students to learn under TLE curriculum and other courses like hotel management and others,” she said.

In terms of TLE curriculum, GT Northeast Academy is eyeing on giving its students the hands-on experience.  They hope to use the hotel as a venue for its students to learn practical and on-field skills on business management they can use in the future, School Director Jonathan Salvane said.

GTNA-REC is just 10-min drive to a mall, nearby golf course and about 25-min drive to the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA).  With this location proximity, families can enjoy a place to relax that’s away from the hustle and bustle of the metro.
