Converge launches its products in Boracay to strengthen foothold in VisMin

BORACAY ISLAND— Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. (Converge) launched its enterprise products on May 3 at Hennan Palm Beach resort in Boracay with the island’s hotel associations, tour operators, and tourism-related companies in attendance securing its position with its further expansion into the regions, particularly entering into high visibility and density areas such as Boracay.

“I am pleased to announce that Converge is now in Boracay.  We’re here to serve you because the internet is no longer a luxury but the right of everyone, especially during the pandemic when the internet need was more pronounced,” Converge CEO and Founder Dennis Anthony Uy said in his opening statement.

Two years after its fiber network reached the shores of Visayas and Mindanao, leading fiber Converge continues to secure and strengthen its foothold in these areas.  Aside from Boracay, Converge is also present in key tourist destinations nationwide such as Bohol, Cebu, Davao, Coron, Baler, Batangas, Puerto Galera and La Union, offering tailor-fit solutions for the hospitality industry.

Uy has been described as a tech entrepreneur. Having the internet is one thing but maximizing the internet is another, he said that technology should be involved in your business operations harnessing its power to new heights.

“Nationwide expansion and making sure we reach Filipinos’ homes is a long game. This is why we push on with our fiber deployment nationwide, particularly in Visayas and Mindanao where we are still a relatively new name. Two years on and we are where we want to be: we are securing our foothold and making a name for ourselves especially in establishing our presence in high interest tourist destinations,” Uy revealed.

As restrictions have eased, Uy said they are very happy to be present in these key areas to help boost tourism and assist businesses and SMEs in their recovery. The pandemic proved that the only way forward is to embrace connectivity and maximize the benefits of technology.

Converge is here to show that it is not only offering people world-class connectivity, but also technology solutions that can give businesses a competitive edge, Uy added.

Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus Romero shared that Converge’s extensive network allows it to serve not only residential clients, but also deliver better and more comprehensive services for enterprises, big and small.  Converge can serve local businesses in Visayas and Mindanao and nationwide corporations that prefer to have a single provider for all of its branches, such as banks, retail and the like,

With over 7.9 million ports as of December 2022, Converge now has the broadest fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the Philippines, Romero added that it rolled out two million fiber ports in 2022 alone, driven by the robust expansion in Visayas and Mindanao, Romero added.

In 2023, Converge expects the port deployment strategy to be more of the same - targeting key areas in the two regions.  According to internal data, nearly one million ports have been deployed in Visayas and Mindanao as of April 2023.

In terms of subscriber count, nearly a fifth or 20 percent of the total gross adds in the fourth quarter of 2022, came from Visayas and Mindanao. Aside from Aklan, Converge is present in nine other provinces in Visayas, while in Mindanao, it is present in 11 major provinces.

For 2023, Converge is looking to expand to new cities in Bohol, Zamboanga, Palawan, and more cities in Aklan and in small islands all over the country, Uy said Converge has wired 16M households or 60 percent of its targets in putting up the WIFI connections in the country.

Converge has recently delivered Wi-Fi in hospitals, it wants to revolutionize the Wi-Fi/internet technology in hospitals and the hotel industry in bundled services.  Technology if fast advancing, faster than fashion.  The transformation of technology is now in the cloud, Uy said.

Converge is soon to launch the cheapest fiber connection to the masses.  He recalled that he and his wife started Converge in Pampanga and now it has expanded, fiber connecting small islands in the country such as Boracay, Panay and the rest of the smaller island in the country.

“We want to see the internet in the hands of every Filipino and that no one should be left behind to power households and businesses in the Philippines,” Uy concluded. (Photos: Coverge-FB/MBCNewman)
