PALO, Leyte-– Senator Imee Marcos handed over Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to more than 550 farmers, cash aid to 500 pedicab drivers in Palo, Leyte during her January 26 trip in Eastern Visayas region.
Marcos called on the region’s farmers to help
the government increase food production towards gaining food sufficiency for
the next generation. She urged the
Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to help
local farmers acquire more farm equipment and input like fertilizers.
The distribution of cash aid to Pedicab drivers come from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Present during the ceremony were DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III, Leyte officials including Governor Jericho “Icot” Petilla, Mayor Erwin Ocana of Tolosa, Cong. Jude Acidre of party list Tingog, and Eastern Samar officials.
