CEBU CITY – Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has formally joined as a new partner of the Net Zero Carbon Alliance (NZCA) that aims to unite companies and efforts towards carbon neutrality to mitigate the worsening effects of climate change and commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
NZCA is an initiative of First Gen Corporation’s renewable energy subsidiary, Energy Development Corp. (EDC). The alliance is the country's first private sector-led movement to form strategic partnerships that encourage other companies to commit and take immediate action to become carbon neutral.
“We don’t think of ESG in terms of one-off projects. Instead, we embed sustainable development principles into the way we do business. On the environmental front, Converge ensures that we are prepared to adapt to climate change while also doing our part to minimize greenhouse gas emissions,” Converge Chief Strategy Officer Benjamin Azada said.
Azada
added that ESG or Environmental, Social, and Governance factors are the key
areas that Converge focuses on to ensure it is a responsible corporate citizen.
According to Converge Vice President for Strategy and Sustainability, Bryan Christopher King Kay during the first-anniversary event of NZCA that ESG is one of Converge strategic focus areas and the company has declared its own sustainability commitment.
Converge has decided to go above compliance and not only care about its financial performance but also our environmental and social impacts, he added that Converge signed its pledge of commitment to NZCA’s cause.
Kay also shared that Converge has been committed to having focused initiatives that create sustainable value and impact in the long term, particularly for the environment as guided by its sustainability principles.
Converge also commits to net zero GHG emissions by 2050, which means cutting GHG emissions to as close to zero as possible to avert the worst impacts of climate change and preserve a livable planet.
Converge had already shifted to 100 percent clean energy for its headquarters in Pasig City and its data center in Pampanga. (Photos: Converge FB/Google Images)
