LAPULAPU CITY --The Mactan Newtown, a 30-hectare township by Megaworld Corporation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu goes ‘Pink’ in support of the global observance of Pink October, a month dedicated to breast cancer awareness and early detection, in partnership with ICanServe Foundation Inc, Cebu Link, a non-profit organization committed to advocating for breast health education.
The Mactan Newtown launched on October 17, the “Paint the Township Pink” lighting the entire township in shades of ‘Pink’—a symbol of unity, strength, and hope, with guests, Newtown patrons, media and members of the ICan Serve Foundation gathered at the Township Fountain Rotunda as water sprouted in colorful nuances of pink at dusk.
Marilou Kiunisala, GM of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls said that The Mactan Newtown proudly joins the Pink October-breast cancer early detection advocacy to unite the community here in support of survivors, advocate for prevention, and inspire hope for those affected by the disease in collaboration with ICanServe Foundation.
“The Township holds a series of events and activities throughout October, to engage, educate and empower the public on breast cancer awareness and early detection as a form of prevention. Our fountain and township buildings are lit in pink to symbolize hope, strength, and solidarity with those affected by breast cancer,” Kiunisala added.
Guests and attendees were treated to a delightful food and beverage selection courtesy of Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips and Gordon Ramsay Street Burger, setting the tone for an evening of meaningful connection and advocacy. The lighting ceremony also marked the beginning of a strong and enduring partnership between The Mactan Newtown and the ICanServe Foundation in promoting women’s health awareness.
On October 19, a Free Breast Cancer
Consultation was held at the Mactan Wellness Center led by Dr. Nikki Palma with
the ICanServe Foundation, offering women the opportunity to consult medical
professionals for early detection and health assessment. This initiative
underscores the township’s commitment to making healthcare more accessible to
the community.
