Cebu ports log in over 100K passengers from April 10-14, over 25K on Holy Wednesday

CEBU CITY – The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) recorded and monitored 100,670 passenger traffic in various ports here 51,612 of which are outbound and 49,058 are inbound Cebu passengers for the first four days of “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos” from April 10-14, 2022.

According to CPA, it has recorded 25,766 outbound and 19,617 inbound passengers in various Cebu ports on Holy Wednesday, April 13 alone after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) lifted the suspension of trips of all vessels and watercrafts in affected areas in Cebu Province caused by Tropical Storm Agaton.

Port of Hagnaya in San Remegio recorded the greatest number of passengers with 6,237 bound for Santa Fe Port in Bantayan Island and 1,247 passengers from Sta. Fe Port to Hagnaya Port.

Pier1 Cebu Baseport followed as 2nd highest volume of passengers with 5,452 outbound and 2,982 inbound passengers going to and coming from the provinces of Bohol, Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, Surigao, Iligan, Ozamis, Calbayog, Nasipit and Camotes Island.

All ports in Cebu are on heightened alert status as CPA observes Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2022 starting Sunday, April 10, 2022 until April 18, 2022.

CPA has deployed additional security personnel in different ports to ensure safety and security and to implement crowd control and management anticipating the influx of passengers.

Partners from Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Philippine National Police (PNP) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) have also deployed additional enforcement officers in areas with high passenger traffic.

Emergency response teams and ambulance from Philippine Red Cross, Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and First Aid Volunteers from partner cargo-handling service providers are also deployed in ports to provide immediate medical assistance to passengers.
