CEBU CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII recognized the crucial role of the Local Government Units (LGU) in the conduct, validation and assessment of the Listahanan 3 as the basis for the government’s alleviation of poverty programs at the countryside.
The participation of the LGUs is crucial in the Listahanan household assessment because the results of this will be used for the alleviation of the poor to address their needs, according to DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala during the 2-week online orientation in the last week of October to the first week of November.
The online orientation was participated in by local chief executives, their representatives, local social welfare officers, local planning officers, civil society organization representatives, barangay captains, barangay kagawads and other officials from the 132 LGUs of Central Visayas.
Geamala, in her message during the recently concluded simultaneous orientation for the Listahanan validation phase in Cebu City that one important role of the LGUs during the validation phase is to be part of the Barangay Verification Team (BVT) and Local Verification Committee (LVC).
One These groups will review and resolve the
filed complaints they received, Geamala added that the complaints they will be
working on are for those who were interviewed but not included in the initial
list of the poor and non-poor who were listed under the initial list of the
poor.
She said that this is crucial in making sure that the final list of poor to be generated for 2021 contains the quality information of the poor, for the prioritization in any poverty alleviating programs and services.
“We are looking forward to the efficient
implementation of the Listahanan 3. Kudos
for reaching out to us,” said Jessica Baricuatro, an SB Member from
Pinamungajan, Cebu.
Some of the local chief executives from Bohol province also expressed support for the project thanking DSWD-7 for the opportunity and with the commitment “there is no way we’ll turn our back so we will support Listahanan and to any DSWD programs,”San Miguel town mayor Virgilio Mendez said.
“Rest assured 200% support from here. I hope dili kayo magsawa magbigay ng project sa amin (I hope you will continue giving us projects).” mayor Metodio Amper from Anda, Bohol said.
