Bohol rice farmers receive over P6.1M worth of machineries

 BOHOL Province – The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Visayas turned over 20 units hand tractor complete with implement and 40 units water pumps with engine sets plus accessories costing about P6,199,699 million to 12 farmers’ associations from the municipalities of Catigbian, Bilar, Sagbayan, Talibon, Candijay, Sierra Bullones, Sevilla, Danao, and Ubay in the Province of Bohol as of October 8 this year.

 DA-7 regional executive director Atty. Salvador Diputado said these agricultural machineries are needed by the above selected towns in Bohol where the major rice production areas of the province are located.

"These machineries are the tangible gift of DA Secretary William Dar to the farmers of Bohol to increase their farm production and income," Diputado said.  The beneficiaries all recognized the vibrant and active support of Secretary Dar to optimize farm yield and minimize losses, he added.

 The turnover ceremony was held at the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center (BAPC) grounds in Tagbilaran City attended by Bohol 2nd District Representative Erico Aristotle Aumentado; Dr. Larry Pamugas, Atty. Abel Damalerio, Antonio Inte, Mayor Elizabeth Mandin of Catigbian, Mayor Manuel Jayectin of Bilar, Mayor Juliet Dano of Sevilla and Mayor Jose Cepedoza of Danao, together with 21 Municipal Agricultural Officers.

Bilar Mayor Manuel Jayectin also received DA7's financial assistance of 800,000.00 for the Bilar’s Organic Agriculture Program while Negros Oriental has also an allocation of seven units hand tractor worth P130,000 funded under the rice program, Diputado said. (Photos: DA-7)
