Baricuatro, Magalong to help organize the G4GG coalition

CEBU— Cebu governor Pamela Baricuatro and Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong agreed to help organize the Governors for Good Governance (G4GG) coalition with Magalong offering to host its first meeting in Baguio City to mark the coalition’s official establishment.

Baricuatro shared this in media briefing at the Capitol on October 15 after Magalong’s visit in Cebu to personally deliver assistance, which included ₱125,000 from the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) and ₱2 million from Baguio City, for the four earthquake-affected local government units in northern Cebu.

Baricuatro shared that in a private meeting with Magalong, the mayor showed her “shocking” data on budget insertions affecting the province that allegedly amounted to billions of pesos.

Baricuatro said she is seeking additional documents from DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon to support the data under review at the Capitol.

“Definitely we will investigate this. Dili gyud ni sila puwede makalusot sa ilang pagpanamastamas sa atong funds. Dili ni puwede ang ilang gibuhat and let them get away with it. They have to pay the price for stealing the people’s money,” Baricuatro added.

At the press conference, Baricuatro bared that Magalong has offered guidance for the coalition’s initial activities. Gov. Baricuatro also revealed that three other governors from the Visayas and four from Luzon are interested in joining the coalition.

While she chose not to reveal the names of the Luzon governors, she identified the Visayas leaders namely Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado, Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson, and Romblon Gov. Trina Firmalo-Fabic.

Magalong is a co-convenor of M4GG with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte. Like the mayor’s coalition, G4GG aims to combat corruption and build resilient communities, prioritizing public welfare over political interests. (Photos: Capitol PIO)
