NNC7 lauds local nutrition workers in virtual grand nutrition awards

CEBU CITY – The Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee lauded all nutrition workers including local committees, local nutrition focal persons who have exemplary performance in 2019 and 2020 back to back with the official launching of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Strategy 3.0 on August 13 in an online grand nutrition award.


The Overall Best Performing Local Nutrition Committees (LNCs) award was given to Bohol Province, Dumaguete City, Enrique Villanueva in Siquijor and Barangay Lomangcapan, Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor.

Bohol and Negros Oriental bagged the Best Performing LNCs, provincial level while 13 cities in the region got the same awards for the City level; 11 towns for the municipal level and 41 for the barangay level.

NNC7 also recognized 13 Nutrition Service Awardees that were given to Asteria Caberte of DTI, Ernesto Macabenta, World Vision PH; Evelyn Macapobre, DSWD7; Ana Belga of BFAR; Ma Lourdes Caminade of Feed the Children; Julieta Tutor, DOH-CVCHD; Victoria Carmago and Teodora Cleopas from Bohol; Ruth Embradora, Danao  City; Marsha Elizabeth Cajigal, Valencia, Bohol; Vilma Calago of Vallehermoso, BegOr; Davelina Chatto of Balilihan, Bohol; and Adelfa Tagaytay of Lila, Bohol.

The Good Nutrition Project Awards went to “Bayanihan Fund for Nutrition” of Bais City and “Borbon Healthy Nanay and Bulilit Program” of Borbon, Cebu.

The Nutrition Project Merit was given to Bogo City for its Serbisyo sa Barangay Project; Naga City for its Focused Nutrition Assistance Program and Dalaguete, Cebu for its Monitoring of Nutritionally at-risk Pregnant Women of DSP.

Tanjay City, Ubay in Bohol, Medellin in Cebu, La Libertad and Pamplona in NegOr and Enrique Villanueva in Siquijor got the Outstanding Nutrition Cluster Awards.  This award was in recognition for nutrition efforts during the pandemic only for the continued regular nutrition services but have also initiated activities to prevent deterioration of their community’s nutritional status.

  
Jhianne Mae Nicole Tugaoen of Negros Oriental got the Outstanding HRH-N while Joanna Fae Obdulia Reserva, RND Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Tubigon, Bohol got the Regional Local Nutrition Action Officer of the Year.

Outstanding BNS for provincial level went to Regine Daulong of Baranagy Sawang, Maria Siquijor; City Outstanding BNS were Gina Zerna of Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City and Marline Jumarito of Barangay Cabawan, Tagbilaran City.

Nutrition Champion Award was given to Janette Garcia, mayor of Talibon, Bohol and Melward Patagoc, Barangay Captain of Cang-inte, Siquijor, Siquijor.

The ease in travel protocols in the 2nd Quarter of the year enabled the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) to push through with the 2021 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Program by visiting all four provinces, 16 cities, 15 municipalities and 68 barangays.

The National President of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines and Chair of the Nutrition Honor Awardee - Quirino Provincial Nutrition Committee Gov. Dakila Carlo Cua gave his message to inspire the local chief executives in the country to do better in the nutritional and health priorities of their respective communities.

Department of Budget (DBM-7) regional director Ricky Sanchez also encouraged LGUs units to strengthen local nutrition program implementation by including the establishment of nutrition offices with adequate personnel complement.

The awarding ceremony hopes to inspire LGUs to continue good nutrition program management despite COVID-19 restrictions.


Meanwhile, special awards for Tiktok Challenge, Nutri Jingle Contest and Social Media were also given to the winners: Tiktok Dance Challenge 1st place winner were Shyne Lee Honculada and Enjel Ann Vellesas of Agusan del Sur; 2nd placer went to Carlo Evallo, City of Naga and 3rd place went to RHU Alegria, Cebu.

RHU Alegria, Cebu Tiktok Dance Challenge was awarded the "Most Liked & Shared Tiktok Award while the "Most Creative Tiktok award" went to Angelica Bacay of Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

The winners for the Tiktok challenge received P5,000; P3,000; P2,000 and P1,500 each for most creative and most liked & shared respectively.

The Nutri Jinglel Contest 1st placer went to Maria, Siquijor BNS which received P5,000 while the 2nd place winner went to Liloan, Cebu BNS with P3,000 and the 3rd place went to Dumaguete City BNS with P2,500.  The Liloan, Cebu BNS Nutri Jingle has the most liked and shared that received P1,500 and P1,000 for consolation prize.
