CEBU CITY – Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS) president, Marivic Bathan unveiled the “TATAK CPMS” brand as the school marched towards its 20th journey in providing inclusive education for all children in Cebu.
“CPMS honors each child for the values each has
embodied, as observed by their teachers, highlighting that this is more
important than recognizing them for their academic performance. Montessori
education is crucial in fostering children's innate curiosity and passion for
learning, while building their character and preparing them for a complex and
uncertain future,” Bathan said.
Bathan added that the unique, child-centered approach of Montessori education at the CPMS, promotes hands-on, experiential learning, creating a sense of belonging and importance among students. By nurturing children's natural curiosity and creativity, Montessori education helps them develop into confident, adaptable, and resilient individuals.
In this year’s graduation rights, more than 20 preschoolers are moving up to Grade 1 and 11 elementary graduates ready for high school in the next school year.
What is
the “TATAK CPMS” brand?
CPMS president Marivic Bathan explained that at CPMS’ approach to inclusive education is holistic and also focuses on practical application, providing a different motivation for the students. CPMS prepares its students for the future through experiential, hands-on, multi-sensorial, child-centered, self-directed, developmental approach.
“We launched the new branding during a recital dubbed “Tatak CPMS”: The Hakuna Matata Journey which showcased the creative skills and talents the students developed and honed; to to recognize and celebrate those students, employees, teachers, and administrative staff who embody the core values of the school and thank the parent volunteers who have significantly contributed to the positive impact on the entire CPMS community throughout the school year,” Bathan shared.
It is not merely a performance. It was a celebration of the process, the Hakuna Matata journey each member of the CPMS community undertakes throughout the year. It was about recognizing the progress and growth of each student, parent, family, employee, consultant, and partner through the rich, varied, relevant, minor, and major encounters and experiences in CPMS, Bathan added.
This is how CPM propels to becoming a creative intentional learning community, Bathan pointed out and bared that the various performances-- plays, choir singing, Rondalla, Arnis, and a cultural dance preparations and rehearsals, the students applied the knowledge and skills from school such as time management, dealing with pressure, and collaboration with schoolmates and teachers. The significance of this journey goes beyond the stage. It allows children to shine, discover their potential, and develop essential life skills. Through practices, challenges, and unwavering support, they become confident and responsible individuals ready to face the world.
Through Tatak CPMS, the school showcases the essence of holistic education. It's about preparing children for the complexities and ambiguities of the 21st century—building emotional intelligence, resilience, and grit.
What sets CPMS apart is its commitment to inclusivity. Children of diverse needs are given equal opportunities to participate, contribute, and excel. The school's philosophy revolves around nurturing intrinsic motivation, cultivating natural interests, and fostering a sense of accomplishment beyond mere medals or accolades.
“By nurturing children's natural curiosity and creativity, Montessori education helps them develop into confident, adaptable, and resilient individuals,” Bathan said.
