MCCI launches Mandaue Business Month 2022 with great reset

CEBU CITY – The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) launched Tuesday, July 19 the Mandaue Business Month (MBM) 2022 as most activities especially the business sector is back to normal, “Ushering in the Great Reset: Riding the Tailwinds of Change” as its theme.

Ko added that even when the country is slowly coming out from the pandemic and Odette, there are still other challenges that are coming in like the Russian-Ukraine war, fuel increases, others but, MCCI launched the MBM 2022 nevertheless, after two years of hiatus to accept and ride with the ‘tailwinds of change’.

According to Marc Ynoc, MBM2022 chair that the Mandaue Business Month is an event every August of every year that is organized by the MCCI in partnership with the Province of Cebu and the City of Mandaue.

MCCI board feels that 2022 is a very auspicious year as the world slowly emerges from the pandemic, with Cebu rising from the onslaught of typhoon Odette and the country saw the changing of guards in government.  They are very optimistic that this is the right time of new beginnings, of renewal and change and new opportunities.

Ynoc said, MBM forms part of the Mandaue City Charter Day celebration and it is a month-long program composed of a series of events that advocate sustainable and socially responsible business and to promote Mandaue City and the Province of Cebu as attractive destinations for business and investment.

 MBM pushes the reset buttons for various events

The MBM 2022 are now well-thought of as RESET events starting on August 5 to 7 with the Mandaue Expo at the Mandaue Sports Complex and on August 6, the Trees Brew Life project, a tree planting activity at the Umapad Green Park in partnership with San Miguel Brewery Inc.

According to Girlie Garces, Event chair that the Expo is an avenue for the Chamber and the City to showcase the various local products and services of the business establishments and locators in Mandaue for the public to indulge.

Garces said, Mandaue City contributes bout 75 percent of Cebu’s economy and it is home to world-class furniture, food, beer, delicacies and it is even described as “bacon capital of Cebu.”

The ‘Trees Brew Life’ project is an annual tree-planting event of MCCI members and the public at the Mandue landfill area, now converted into an eco-learning center.  “The goal of this activity is to fill the landfill with trees and turn it into a beautiful park where everything we place here are all recycled materials,” Garces told this writer.

On August 12 is the Executive Forum at the City Sports Club in partnership with Blanchard Philippines Partner, CMC Business Solutions, Inc. which is an introduction to SLII—A Situational Approach to Leadership for interested MCCI board and members.

One of the most awaited events at MBM 2022 is “DUWA, Cebu Children’s Festival” on August 13-14 and 20-21 at the Oakridge Business Park.  Kelie Ko, who chairs this event said, DUWA will provide the children, who are the next generation business entrepreneurs with weird, wild and wonderful Filipino games experience.

“Let’s inspire these young minds to harness their innate curiosity and creativity and push the boundaries of what they can be, and hope the festival will enrich the local landscape of things kids can do,” Ko said.

August 16 is the MCCI Business Summit 2022 at Marcopolo Plaza Hotel.  This is a learning event for the business sector.  Adrian Lee, event chair said that they have invited the country’s top caliber speakers to share their expertise and knowledge on various topics including new business paradigms and technological development in the local and global milieu.

August 20 is the Dragon Boat Regatta 2022 at Mandani Bay.  This is the first Dragon Boat competition in Mandaue with the world-famous Philippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc. (PADS) at the helm with support from MCCI. 

Mark Ynoc, event chair bared that PADS and MCCI with Mandani Bay want to make this a yearly event to work with people with disability to achieve an inclusive society. This is the first ever cross-disability adaptive dragon boat racing program in the Philippines.

An Investment Forum 2022 will also be scheduled in August where potential investors in Mandaue City will meet with prospective partners to explore investment opportunities in the city.
