CEBU CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA-7)-Central Visayas distributed some P890,000.00 worth of cash and food subsidy to 178 corn farmers from eight municipalities of and 21 female carabaos to three towns in Bohol on February 4.
DA-7 regional executive director Salvador Diputado with Roman Dabalos, DA7's Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) led distribution activity of the P5,000 cash/food subsidy each to the farmers from Balilihan, Catigbi-an, Corella, Antequera, Dauis, Cortes, Sikatuna and Buenavista.
Diputado, in his message reminded the farmers
to use the cash assistance wisely like additional support to their livelihood. He added that the assistance of P5,000 is
under the Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fishers (CFSMFF)
Program of DA funded under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) as
support to the farmers and fisherfolks during this pandemic.
Each qualified beneficiary receives P3,000 cash and P2,000 worth of food items which include rice, dressed chicken and eggs to be supplied by the Bayanihan Cooperative.
Meanwhile, the DA-7 team also turned over 21 female carabaos to three farmer’s groups-beneficiaries in the towns of Ubay, Pilar and Alicia to enhance the dairy program and foster livelihood opportunities to marginal farmers in the province.
The distribution of the carabaos was held at
the Ubay Stock Farm attended by the 2nd district Representative Aris Aumentado
and 3rd district Representative Kristine Alexie Tutor thru a representative.
