Coast Guard readies for influx of passengers on Holy Week, summer trips

CEBU CITY – The Philippine Cast Guard (PCG) District Central Visayas is on heightened alert and implementing proactive measures to ensure safe and secure sea travel during the holy week and summer vacation.

CGDCV, through Coast Guard Station Central Cebu, Coast Guard Station Northern Cebu, Coast Guard Station Southern Cebu, Coast Guard Station Camotes, Coast Guard Station Siquijor, Coast Guard Station Negros Oriental and Coast Guard Station Eastern and Western Bohol intensify the conduct of Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspection (VSEI), pre-departure inspections aboard all domestic vessels plying within the maritime jurisdiction of Region 7.

In line with OPLAN BIYAHENG AYOS for Holy Week and summer vacation 2023, the CGDCV established the DOTr Malasakit Help Desk in conspicuous areas in all major ports in the region with all partner agencies—the CPA, PPA, MARINA, RMU-7 to attend and assist passengers/travelers who have complaints and requests for assistance.

Intensified presence of Coast Guard personnel on all ports, beaches and coastal areas is also implemented to ensure and enforce optimum maritime safety, security and standby search and rescue should the need arises.
