DICT launches eGovPH Super App in Cebu

 LAPULAPU CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officially launched the eGov PH Super App in Cebu, October 21 at Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark with local mayors and government leaders from Cebu in attendance supporting the program as it also introduced the eLGU, integrating local government services into a single platform for a more seamless experience.

“This is a groundbreaking initiative to establish a digital Philippines through the adoption of Digital Transformation systems and solutions under RA-10844: The DICT Act of 2015 designed to streamline government transactions and integrate public services both national and local government levels in a one-stop-shop public service,” DICT Undersecretary for Support Services, Heherson Asiddao said at the press conference during the launching event.

Asiddao explained that the eGovPH Super App aims to enhance the delivery of government services through digital platforms, promoting transparency, accessibility, and efficiency. With features like business registration, tax payments, and public document access, it empowers citizens while streamlining government operations.

Housed in a single mobile application, citizens can now have easy access to various government online services and information covering across local and national level of public agencies through collaboration, DICT said.

June Vincent Gaudan, DICT director for Management Information System Service bared that the eGovPH Super App is made by DICT and not contracted by a third party and is compliant with the international standards of data privacy.

“If the App is made by a 3rd party, the data is up there and is prone to attack.  Right now, DICT handles the data privacy and cybersecurity that even during the design process of the eGovePH Super App, we’ve already incorporated what we call an international standard cybersecurity by design to make sure that our system is very robust,” Gaudan stated.

According to Asiddao the eGovPH Super App today has lodged about 80+M generated national IDs that are available once the App is downloaded and DICT ensures that internet connectivity in the country is available especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS).

He bared that right now there are other major projects that the DICT is doing including free WiFi and the national broadband to complement and help in terms of major connectivity within the Philippines to ensure that these go hand in hand to fully utilize the benefits of the eGov system.

“The national broadband project will actually help us in terms of major connectivity within the Philippines. This is the backbone of connectivity and we are at the stage wherein we are connecting Luzon up to Cagayan de Oro and eventually the whole Mindanao,” Asiddao added.

Mayor Sun Shimura of Daanbantayan town and president of the Cebu Mayors League lauded the DICT for the eGovPh Super App project saying that this is a good App which facilitates the access of information and services such as the national ID, PhilHealth registration and all other information that the people in the barangays need, most especially hospitalization.
