DTI Cebu launches its 36th Negosyo Center in Compostela

 COMPOSTELA, Cebu-– The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cebu Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Compostela launched the 36th Negosyo Center on August 30 at the town’s municipal hall. 

“I thank the DTI for its continued efforts to strengthen local entrepreneurship. This Negosyo Center in Compostela is a pivotal step in my administration’s commitment to streamlining business processes and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within the community,” Compostela mayor Felijur Quiño said in his opening message at the event launch. 


According to Quiño that Compostela hosts over 1,200 registered establishments and key investors, including the industrial factories of Norkis Trading Co. Inc. (Yamaha plant), Virginia Food, Inc., Steel Asia’s Compostela Works, ready-mix concrete supplier Suprea Philippines Development Corporation, and home furnishings and garden accessories exporter Natures Legacy Eximport, Inc. 


DTI-Cebu Provincial Director Rose Mae Quiñanola highlighted the important role of the Negosyo Center in uplifting local MSMEs that constitute 99.6 percent of businesses nationwide. 

“We assure the Compostela LGU on our unwavering support to the initiatives that aims to improve the Ease of Doing Business in Compostela,” Quiñanola said. 

Quiñanola added that Negosyo Centers provide a wide array of services tailored to support MSMEs, including Business Registration Assistance, Business Advisory Services, Business Information and Advocacy, MSME Development Seminars, Access to Market initiatives, Financing Facilitation, and various programs to enhance the competitiveness of small enterprises.


She is also optimistic that this partnership with the LGU and in collaboration with other agencies play a crucial role in Compostela’s development paving the way for its elevation from a first-class municipality to a future component city.

The launching event included the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DTI, represented by Director Quiñanola and the LGU of Compostela, represented by Mayor Quiño.  This was followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Director Quiñanola, Mayor Quiño, and Vice Mayor Froilan Quiño officially opening the Negosyo Center.

The Negosyo Center Program is established under Republic Act No. 10644, also known as the “Go Negosyo Act,” that is designed to create a more conducive business environment for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
