MANDAUE CITY—Virginia Food Inc.’s Prodigious Dance Company won over 12 other finalists in the MCCI Talent Fest Grand Finals held on September 29 at the Mandaue Sports Complex organized by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized in coordination with the Cebu provincial government and the Mandaue City government.
The first-ever competition was among the activities for the Mandaue Business Month 2023 that aims to promote camaraderie among the employees of MCCI member companies.
Using props and colorful lights, the Prodigious Dance Company wowed the audience with their dance number.
First runner-up Roger Cabalhug of the Negrensee Security Agency Inc. sang his heart out with the song “I Who Have Nothing.” Steel Force of Worldwide Steel Group who entertained the audience with their dance moves finished second runner-up.
The prizes for the winners are P100,000 for the champion. The first and second runners-up received P50,000 and P30,000, respectively.
The other finalists – Annalie Vinculado of RAFI Micro-Finance Inc., Verlin Ann Palas of VFI, Rodel Pendijito of A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp., Beverly Jean Lato, also of VFI, John Peterson Villarin of Worldwide Central Properties, Janessa Magno of Treasure Island Industrial Corp., James Ryan Cartalla of Cenapro Chemical Corp., Jade Edilaine Salazar Mamac of Mendoza Design & Development Corp., Emina Montanez of UCMed, and Catherine Curato of Xeleqt Technology Innovations Inc. – also gave excellent performances. The rest of the finalists received P10,000 each.
“Definitely, the judges had a hard time deciding because everyone did an exemplary job! All of the contestants were superb. They really put up a good show… seems like they were all professional performers. Not one was left out. The preparation was evident. The dedication of each of them really showed all in all it was a show that MCCI can be proud of,” MCCI Talent Fest chair Ms. Mae Ann Yee said.
Yee added that all the finalists impressed the audience but the winners stood out.
“I am proud of all of them. Indeed, nobody performed less than the others. That’s why I’m pretty sure it was a difficult decision for the judges to make. They all proved that Mandaue is not only an industrial city but also a haven of talents and creative people,” she said.
When asked if the talent competition achieved MCCI’s goal of promoting camaraderie among employees of member companies, “absolutely,” Yee said .
“The group of people who came to support their candidates made the show more exciting by showing their support in the spirit of camaraderie. But, more importantly, the contestants themselves grew long-lasting friendships as they spent time together during the coaching sessions and the rehearsals,” she said. (Photos: MCCI/Robby Alugar)
