Sen. Marcos visits Cebu to grace AICS payout, meets press, promotes movie

CEBU CITY – Senator Imee Marcos visited Cebu, February 18 to grace the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) payouts at the Minglanilla Sports Complex, met and greeted the members of the Cebu Online News Press Corps and promote the movie sequel “Martyr or Murderer.”

Marcos, in her message, recognized the funds and role of the DSWD in helping the marginalized sectors of society and she later distributed ‘nutribun’ to the children in the area.

According to the DSWD-7 Senator Marcos assisted the team in distributing cash aid worth P3.480 million to 1,000 beneficiaries at P5,000 each that included senior citizens, PWD and other sectors of society and 96 victims of fire from Talisay City.

On the same date, another set of aid worth three million pesos were also distributed to 1,500 beneficiaries from the City of Naga, Cebu.

Imee Marcos gave the press updates on the major programs of the Marcos administration including her concerns on how to push the younger generation to go into agriculture as she noted the need for the second generation of farmers to contribute to the country’s food security.

“I don’t believe the young in this country does not like farming, being a farmer is in the Filipino genes.  Our farmers are increasingly getting older. We need the younger people to have interest in farming,” Imee said.

She added that all there is to do is to take out the risk by giving them financial assistance and access to lands so the can help in the business side such as finding interests in new farming technology, in research and development, marketing and many more that the youth can get involve in.

Marcos also talked about the necessity for the country to have a self-reliant defense program as she noted the increasing conflict in territorial pursuits of our sea and shore boundaries by other neighboring countries like China.  “I want our soldiers to be able to defend our shores because the danger is real,” she added. (Photos: DSWD-7/MBCNewman)

Martyr or Murderer, sequel story of Maid in MalacaƱang

After meeting the Cebu Online News Press Corps, Senator Marcos proceeded to her other scheduled commitments including promoting the movie “Martyr or Murderer”, a sequel story to “Maid in Malacanang” series.  The movie is shown on nationwide cinemas on March 1, 2023.

History is still written.  There is great rejoicing over this film coming from the director’s followers and supporters who made #MOMTheOfficialPoster trend for two days upon its official release on January 30.

On his Facebook post, Yap expressed his gratitude for the hype and enumerated the numbers of the reactions and shares that the poster received in just 2 days:  nearly 200,000 accumulated reactions on all postings across mainstream media, 54,000 reactions on Vincentiments official pages, 17,000 shares, and 6,400 uploads on personal accounts and pages.

“Martyr or Murderer” recounts what happened to the family before and after EDSA Revolution, a sneak peek to their life in exile, and a brave discussion on the intrigues surrounding Imee Marcos’s exploits in Morocco. Did she really go into hiding and forge passports? How did her siblings cope with the sudden turn of events? How did the ailing patriarch and his Imeldific wife carry on with their lives after being stripped of power and dignity?

The film aims to provide answers to the unending how’s and whys involving President Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos and his greatest nemesis, Senator Benigno Simeon Aquino, Jr.

How did all the strife between them start? How was Ninoy Aquino perceived by the people around him? Why was his death blamed on the Marcoses?   And all these questions lead to even bigger ones:  Who is the real martyr? Who is the real murderer?

Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, , Diego Loyzaga, and Ella Cruz reprise their roles as Imee Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos, Imelda Marcos, Bongbong Marcos and Irene Marcos.

Isko Moreno plays Ninoy Aquino. Jerome Ponce plays the young Ninoy. The powerhouse cast also includes Marco Gumabao as the young Marcos Sr., Cindy Miranda as the young Imleda, Elizabeth Oropesa and Beverly Salviejo as the remaining maids of the Marcos Family, and Rose Van Ginkel as Maricar, Imee’s confidante during in Morocco.

Their story continues to unfold on the big screen. Watch “Martyr or Murderer” March 1 in cinemas nationwide with cast including Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Isko Moreno, Kyle Velino, Marco Gumabao, Jerome Ponce, Cindy Miranda, Rose Van Ginkel, Elizabeth Oropesa, Beverly Salviejo and directed by Darryl Yap.
