APAD-PH donates medical tents to CCCI chamber chapters

CEBU CITY – The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Philippines (A-PAD-PH) in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) as its lead convenor in Central Visayas inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the provisions of medical tents for the CCCI chamber chapters in Cebu as part of the COVID-19 Risk Reduction Project between A-PAD-PH and CCCI, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The tents were turned over to CCCI on October 14 at Circa 1900 in Lahug, Cebu City and these are to be distributed to the chamber chapter beneficiaries in Bantayan Island, Cordova, Balamban, Naga and Danao to ensure that these can be easily mobilized during emergencies.  

According to CCCI president Felix Taguiam that the thrust for multi-sector collaboration is key for faster, inclusive, better preparedness and efficient disaster response, especially in these challenging times.

“The material value of this donation, impressive as it is, pales beside the value count of the spirit with which it has been given. For these tents represent the goodwill and warm heartedness of your organization [APAD PH] towards the Cebuanos,” Taguiam added.

The honorary guest Consul-General Toshihide Kawasaki, Consulate-General of Japan in Cebu in his speech believed that this assistance could give disaster affected people better conditions and safe and relief even in this difficult pandemic time.

A demonstrate on setting up of the medical tents was also conducted by John Benson Delosa, Head of Dispatch of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) during the turnover and MOA signing event.

A presentation on the basic camp management orientation was also presented including key considerations on setting up these tents for medical and disaster emergencies, care and management including disinfection especially against infectious disease, storage matters, and standard protocols if used for COVID 19 pandemic.
