PLDT donates six computers, reams of bond paper to DepEd-Himamaylan, NegOcc

MINERVA BC NEWMAN

CEBU CITY – PLDT donated six personal computers and reams of bond paper to the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental that were allocated two each for the Magsaha Elementary School in Barangay Caradio-An; Don Marcelo G. Vasquez Elementary School in Barangay Nabalian and for the DepEd Schools Division Office.

In a PLDT news release, the turnover was done on August 19, 2021 during the series of kickoff ceremonies of the Brigada Eskwela from August 3 to September 30 this year.  The refurbished PCs will be used by teachers who conduct the blended learning mode of teaching, for online communication with students as well as for teachers’ webinars.

PLDT First Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Catherine Yap-Yang said that despite the COVID-19 restrictions, PLDT and its mobile unit Smart continue to extend help to various schools and PLDT is glad to partner with DepEd Himamaylan as it supports the blended learning approach to education.

DepEd-Himamaylan Schools Division Superintendent Reynaldo Gico, in his message at the Brigada Eskwela virtual kick off ceremonies here on August 19 said that this activity paved the way of building synergy and strong partnership for the DepEd family especially SDO Himamaylan City to fulfill its promise to schools to constantly nurture and serve the schoolchildren.

“Let us together put our efforts and resources for education to continue reaching the beacon of excellence,” Gico said.

PLDT said that it has been supporting DepEd’s National Brigada Eskwela, which, this year, focuses on the preparations and partnership activities to support the implementation of the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) including the multiple learning delivery modalities.

Earlier this year, PLDT donated 300 reams of bond paper to DepEd Himamaylan in support of teachers and students in the city’s 54 public schools as they carry out their blended mode of teaching and learning.

“This year, DepEd’s theme of Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan speaks to all of us to continue working together to make our schools this worthy institution that eagerly welcome every teacher and child in our country,” Gico added. (Photos: PLDT/Google Images)
