CEBU CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Visayas and Robinsons Galleria Cebu opened the Gardening and Fresh Local Produce agricultural exhibit and fair dubbed “Locally Sourced” at Robinsons Malls on May 7-9 to mark the celebration of Farmers/Fishers’ month of May.

DA-7 Regional Technical Director Joel Elumba in his opening message said that this event is in response to the call of Secretary William Dar to ensure availability of food especially during this time of pandemic and in celebration of the farmers and fishers' month.

The “Locally Sourced” is an agricultural exhibit and fair with various farm produce and products that are locally grown featuring different types of vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants and processed agricultural products, Elumba added.

Exhibitors of the fair included Ulay Agro Industrial Enterprise of Dalaguete, Cebu; Cebu City Farmers Group; First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tanon Seaboards; Cebu People's Multipurpose Cooperative; Pestales Agri Cooperative; Talisay City Farmers; Lamac Multipurpose Cooperative, and Growing Greens Farm.

Other exhibitors were Jestrera's Delicacy of Poro, Cebu; FRL Trading, Cebu City; the Green Table; and Rachels Homemade Products.

"The farmers are our unsung heroes, so let's help them by buying their produce. Let's buy local and eat local," Elumba said.

Floramae Adolfo, Regional Sales Operations Manager of Robinsons Land Corporation and Malls thanked the partnership with DA-7 for the third time to mount this agricultural fair to promote locally-sourced agricultural products.

“This is also happening in other Robinsons malls around the country to provide our customers and mallgoers affordable and fresh agricultural produce. The exhibit/fair is at the Atrium of Robinsons Galleria Cebu, open during mall hours from May 7 to 9, 2021,” Adoldo added.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR-7) showcased two small and micro entrepreneurs during the exhibit/fair-- the Rachael's Homemade products from Talisay City, Cebu and the Jestreras' Delicacies from Poro town, Camotes.

These stalls feature their delectable yet affordable products such as dried fish, bottled bagoong and ginamos, crab meat, and seaweed camotekies (sweet potato cookies with seaweeds), among others.
